Lazoo. Jul 13, 2023 · The LA Zoo is located within Griffith Park and has been a family favorite for years. The Griffith Park Zoo opened in 1912 with just fifteen animals, a few miles from the current Zoo site. Today, you’ll find more than 2000 mammals, birds, amphibians, and reptiles (representing more than 270 species) on more than 100 acres at the LA Zoo.

Founded in 1963, the Greater Los Angeles Zoo Association (GLAZA) is a nonprofit organization whose primary role is to seek and provide financial support for animal welfare, animal species conservation, capital projects, Learning & Engagement, community outreach programs, and marketing at the Los Angeles Zoo, and GLAZA’s operations.
